The purpose of the work is a production technology development of the low cement magnesia castable. The research methods are physicochemical, thermo-mechanical, petrographic, XRD and electron microscopic ones. The researches of material composition influence on the properties of low cement magnesia castable and samples from this castable have been carried out. Taking into attention the properties indices of the investigated low cement magnesia castables, including their flowing, working time, as well as thermo-mechanical properties of the samples, it has been established the optimal compositions containing: a) magnesian aggregate, hydraulic hardening cement and dispersing additions - designed for production both castables and fired products from these castables; b) magnesian aggregate, hydraulic hardening cement and phosphate chemical binder - designed for production non-fired, dried or thermal treated at temperature of 350 °С products from these castables. In PJSC "THE URIR NAMED AFTER A.S. BEREZHNOY" the pilot batch of low cement corundum silicon carbide refractory castable has been manufactured and intended to customer. The work shall be continued in the line of production technology mastering of the developed low cement magnesia castable and carrying out of its industrial tests, as well as expanding of production and application values of low cement castables.
