The work purpose is an improvement of the technologie of refractory heat-insulating anorthite castables. Methods of researches are chemical, petrographical, XRD, physical-mechanical ones. The investigation of phase formation in the binder part of heat-insulating castables on a microporous anorthite aggregate using the dialuluminate and monoaluminate cements during heat treatment in the temperature range 800-1200 °C was carried out. It has been established that in the mixes of hydrated cement of two grades (dialuluminate and monoaluminium) with disthene-sillimanite concentrate and hydrated cement with perlite interaction with anorthite formation begins at 1200 °C. In a three-component mixes of hydrated cement with disthene-sillimanite concentrate and perlite the formation of anorthite occurs already at 1000 °C. The use of a three-component mixes of cement with disthene-sillimanite concentrate and perlite in the finely dispersed part of the heat-insulating castable provides the binding of unstable components (perlite and free SiO2 formed during decomposition of the disthene) to anorthite at lower temperatures, which assures the castable stability in the carbonic environment and practically unchanged of the linear sizes in service. By the study of physical-mechanical properties and linear changes in dimensions after heating of the castable on a microporous anorthite aggregate at service temperature during 2, 5, 12 and 24 hours it was established that the apparent density and strength of castables on a microporous anorthite aggregate with perlite additives of fraction 2.5-0.16 mm or on combinations of perlite and disthene-sillimanite concentrate are reduced for 5 hours at service temperature and do not change further, the shrinkage is independent of the holding time practically and does not exceed 1.5 %. The technology of refractory heat-insulating anorthite castables is improved. According to the contract with the enterprise of Ukraine, a trial lot of heat-insulating castable was produced. The properties of the products corresponded to conditions of the contract. The products are manufactured and handed over to the customer in the amount of financing. The work should be continued in the direction of further improving the technology of refractory lightweight products and heat-insulating castables and expanding the places of their application.
