Numerical simulation of the processes occurring during the experiment is performed: implantation, diffusion, interaction with traps and recombination, and the deuterium trapping parameters are determined. In the case of preliminary irradiation of steels with ions of inert gases (helium, argon), additional hydrogen traps are created associated with the formation of gas-filled bubbles. According to the experimental data and calculations, the critical factors that contribute to the accumulation of deuterium and limit its release from the steels are also the interphase boundaries and the state (degree of contamination / oxidation) of the material surface with deuterium retention up to ~ 1500 K.
