This phosphorylation is accompanied by a decrease in the affinity of GluR2 to its synaptically bound proteins, the internalization of synaptic GluR2 subunits, and an increase in the AMPA receptors lacking calcium-conductive GluR2 in neurons of dorsal horn in the process of inflammatory pain. The phosphorylation of the GluR2 subunit and its internalization depend on the activation of the protein kinase C? in the neurons of the dorsal horn. The blockade of spinal PKC by celleritrin (the pharmacological PKC blocker) leads to a weakening of the CFA-induced increase in the number, conductivity of the single channel and Ca2 + permeability of the synaptic AMPA receptors in neurons dorsal horn of the rat's spinal cord.
