The objective of the research is to develop the theoretical backgrounds for power losses and damage estimation methodology due to power quality decreasing and for power quality optimization systems in Ukraine. Research methods are complemented by the conducting of the experiments in the laboratories and industry. Calculations are performed by PC using the typical and specially developed programs. New mathematical models of electrical networks and their elements have been developed, which are based on accounting the influence of power quality on the power losses and electrical equipment reliability using statistical data. Correction of the functional dependencies between parameters characterizing the level of power losses, reliability and power quality indices permitted to improve the methods for estimation the reliability of electricity supply. The regularity and intensity of the electromagnetic processes in the industrial electric networks with the frequency converters is investigated. Received results permit to increase the efficiency and reliability of the electric power supply systems functioning due to power losses and damage reduction caused by decreased power quality as well as to improve the efficiency in using of technical means for power quality increasing. Practical application is the electrical engineering research and development institutes, power and energy divisions of the industrial enterprises.
