The problem of creating intelligent machines is addressed, which is connected with the limited possibilities of generalizing sensory data for making control decisions in situations that were not inherent in the design of the system. An approach is proposed for obtaining knowledge from sensory data in the form of abstract categories of different levels of generalization. The mechanism of representing sensory data by knowledge of various levels of abstraction and generalization is formalized in the form of the model of fuzzy granular computing. This mechanism allows the implementation of the decision-making process inherent in humans based on the generalization and categorization of sensory data.
