The object of research is the process of forming a regional policy for the development of renewable energy. The subject of the research is the theoretical and practical foundations of formation of the regional policy of development of renewable energy. Methods of research are: system-structural, spatial, compilative, strategic analysis, logical generalization, comparison, grouping, synthesis and deduction; economic and statistical; graphic, cartographic, tabular methods; economic-mathematical modeling and others. In the process of carrying out scientific research the most important scientific results were obtained: the conceptual model of the development of renewable energy as a promising direction for the sustainable development of regions and the method of analysis and evaluation of the efficiency of using of renewable energy sources in the region on the basis of the concept of sustainable development were developed. They are based on the effects of the development of renewable energy in the economic, ecological and social spheres of life of the region, implementation of which will ensure a balance of interests between the growing needs of energy resources and the available volumes of such resources and achieve sustainable development of the region. . The conceptual-terminological apparatus characterizing the regional policy of the development of renewable energy has been improved. The method of determining the reserves for ensuring the competitiveness of the state's regions based on the introduction of alternative energy in the region's economy is proposed. The methodological approach to the formation of a regional policy of development of renewable energy has been formed, which includes principles, methods, criteria, indicators for assessing the development of types of renewable energy sources on the conceptual basis for ensuring sustainable development of the region. The method of estimation of economic efficiency of the joint use of traditional and renewable sources of energy in the electric power system of Ukraine is developed. The methodical approach to the analysis of the potential of increasing the competitiveness of the regions of Ukraine as a result of the implementation of renewable energy is proposed. The methodical approach to energy audit of buildings in the cities of Ukraine has been improved by identifying the preconditions and peculiarities of its implementation. The system of state regulation of the development of renewable energy sources in the countries of Western Europe (Germany, Portugal, Poland) is explored. The model of functioning of the energy system of the regions of Ukraine is proposed, which, based on the estimation of traditional and non-traditional (renewable) energy sources, will allow to activate the introduction and use of "green" technologies. The approach to revealing and systematization of problems, features and factors of influence on the development of renewable energy is formed. The approach to the creation of transboundary energy clusters as an effective instrument for regulation and implementation of energy saving policy in cross-border cooperation is proposed. The approach to improving the territorial organization of renewable energy in cities and regions is formed, which is based on the development of appropriate cartographic material, the design of small hydropower plants as alternative means of energy supply; creation of a model mini-HPP. The systematic approach to strategic planning and management of the organization of using of renewable energy sources in the city and regions of Ukraine has been formulated. The approach to developing a mechanism for stimulating using of RES in the region has been improved. The methodical approach to the formation of a renewable energy marketing system in the region is proposed, which is based on the development of models of the "marketing complex" of the territories with renewable energy, as well as tools and measures for implementation of image promotion strategies of the respective territories.
