The subject of the research is the problems of creation and functioning of an effective system of professional training of social workers in modern Ukraine and ways of their solution. The aim of the work is a theoretical study of the problems of vocational training of social workers and ways of their solution. The method of investigation is descriptive, systematic, analysis, historical. The formation of social and professional subjectness in future specialists in social work in the conditions of higher education is investigated. The problems of implementing a public request for the training of social workers in conditions of instability of social relations are analyzed. The role of refresher courses as a stage of professionalization of cadres in the social sphere has been studied. The experience of organizing research work of future social workers is analyzed. The role of volunteer practice in the training of social workers has been studied. The monitoring of the professional qualities of the personality of future social workers as a pedagogical technology is analyzed. The training of social workers for working with children with disabilities was studied. The results of scientific research of actual problems of professional training of social workers are used in reading the academic disciplines "Political Science", "Sociology", "Modern Problems of Society", "Theory of Social Work", "Social Partnership", taught to students specialties 231 - "Social Work", in dissertation research and scientific publications. They are defended by a thesis for the degree of Candidate of Psychological Sciences by associate professor Sakhno S. V.; Academic Council of Kharkiv National University. GS Skovoroda recommended for the defense of a thesis for the degree of candidate of psychological sciences, art. teacher Lapina M.D. The results of the research were reported at international scientific conferences in the Polessk State University (the Republic of Belarus), the Baltic Research Institute (Riga, Latvia), at the All-Ukrainian scientific and practical conference "Actual issues of public security, order in modern conditions: police and society - development and interaction strategies". Based on the results of the research, a collection of articles by teachers and students of the department has been published.
