The object of the research is the annalistic hillfort Chornobyl and its vicinities within the territory of the 30-km exclusion zone. The objective of this research is the determination of the infrastructure and fortifications of the hillfort, and clarification of its boundaries and detection of the vicinities. The research methods: typological, technological, statistical and stratigraphic methods as well as archaeological excavations, graphic and photo fixation of the revealed archaeological monuments, analytical processing and description of the detected archaeological material. In general, during the implementation of the research for 2015-2017, 58 sq. m. of the hillfort area were explored, where 22 pits, 6 paling lines, traces of the ancient Rus plowing device and remains of the protective dyke were fixed and processed. As a result, 6981 fragments of ceramics, 208 metal products, 90 glass products, 3 bone and 51 stone products were revealed. In addition, researchers carried out archaeological prospectings: 9 pits with the total area of 15,5 sq.m. were laid in the vicinities of the hillfort, rests of the brick lining (pre-dating by 16th - 17th centuries) were revealed within the territory of the Glory Park as well as two ancient Rus settlements of the 10th-13th centuries and a smashed container (vase) of the Early Iron Age of the 7th - 1st cent. b.c. In 2017, geophysical explorations in the Glory Park and reconnaissance in the vicinity of Kovshilovka village were carried out. During these activities, two new archaeological sites were detected, which contained materials of the meso-neolitic period and the Bronze Age. The collected and processed archaeological materials and movable monuments will form the basis of the future Museum-Archive of Ukrainian Polissia Folk Culture that will provide their preservation for the future generations and introduction into scientific and cultural turnover.
