The purpose of the work is to develop and scientifically substantiate theoretical and methodological principles and methodical approaches to the formation of the mechanism of innovation development on the basis of alternative energy in order to provide environmentally safe innovative development of the national economy. Methods of research - systematic approach, dialectical method of scientific knowledge, fundamental positions of general economic theory, modern concepts of management of innovative development of business entities, modern concepts of innovation, marketing, scientific works of domestic and foreign specialists. The theoretical and methodological principles of motivation for the introduction of alternative energy at the state, regional levels, as well as the level of separate economic entity have been developed. The theoretical and methodical approach to the choice of strategies and tools of innovative development of the economy on the basis of alternative energy, adequate to the external conditions, the potential of the national economy, type and characteristics of its target consumers is developed. A methodical approach to assessing the level of environmental safety has been developed. Methodical approaches to estimating the cost of electricity from renewable energy sources have been developed. The tools of innovation development of the economy on the basis of alternative energy at the industrial enterprises of the Sumy region have been developed and implemented. The conceptual bases of organizational and economic mechanism of management of innovative development of the national economy on the basis of alternative energy are offered. The theoretical provisions of the report have been brought to the level of concrete methods and practical proposals that can be directly implemented in the activities of state and local government bodies and industrial enterprises to manage the processes of innovative development of the national economy on the basis of alternative energy.
