The aim is to formulate theoretical and methodological foundations of reasons for the emergence of trust crisis, to deepen the methodological tools for its analysis and evaluation, to develop methodology and practical recommendations for restoring public trust in the financial sector. Research methods. During the formation of the research methodology, traditional methods such as scientific abstraction, logical-historical and dialectical, analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction were used. The principle of interdisciplinarity has been applied, which manifests itself in a combination of the provisions of scientific schools and the theories of economic, psychological and social orientation, which allowed to form the theoretical basis for the study of the influence of noneconomic factors that determine the peculiarities of the movement of financial resources in the national economy. The directions of interaction of behavioral factors and the financial sector of the economy, as well as economic development, are determined, including the role of the financial sector in ensuring economic security of the country. The methodology of the research of public trust in the financial sector have been developed. A descriptive model of financial sector development is developed, which substantiates the cyclic nature of trust and the nature of its origin - interpersonal, institutional and systemic.
