The purpose of research within the framework of the proposed fundamental research topic is to characterize the theoretical foundations of economic security, its essence and components. The main attention is paid to the role and place of economic security in the economic system of the state, the impact of threats and ways to achieve the appropriate level of economic security in the transformational economy of Ukraine. Methods of research: general scientific and special methods of cognition will be applied to achieve this goal. There are dialectical, formal-logical, comparative-legal, system-structural, legal modeling and etc. Within the framework of the mentioned problems, a comprehensive study of the concept and content of the category "economic security", concepts and content of a specific type of security, its place in the system of economic security of Ukraine; the problems of functioning (state and prospects) of the system of economic security of the state were studied, the analysis of threats to economic security in the sectors of the national economy was carried out, and ways of overcoming them were suggested; a complex of regulatory, legal, institutional and organizational-economic measures that enhance the level of economic security of the state and contain a mechanism to counter internal and external threats, including the formulation of legislative proposals for the modernization and improvement of the current Ukrainian legislation in the sphere of ensuring economic security of Ukraine. The implementation of these developments in the practical activities of state authorities and local self-government will be monitored within three years after the completion of the topic.
