Shchedrolosiev, Registration Date 14-11-2018 Organization National University of shipbuilding named after admiral Makarov popup.description2 The research object is the design of ship ballast compartments. The research aim is to reduce the costs and labor intensity of repairing ballast compartments through the use of floating inhibitors. The research methods are the methods of empirical study. The current state of anticorrosive corrosion protection of ship ballast compartments has been analyzed. The methods of protection of the internal and external ship surfaces against corrosion are considered. The list of materials used for the corrosion protection is provided. The problems arising at corrosion protection of ship ballast compartments are covered. The structural and technological diagrams of ballast systems have been improved. There has been developed a technology for corrosion protection of ballast compartments with the use of floating inhibitors via the "flotation". The construction comprises a portable tank for the preparation and supply of floating lubricant inhibitors, which is connected to the pipeline with a portable hose. At the end of the pipeline, there is installed a manifold with a branch pipe, through which the coating enters the clean ballast tank of the bulk carrier. The coating residues are removed through the air pipe and the portable hose to the portable tank intended for the accumulation of the coating residues. The contaminated water is removed from the ballast tank of the bulk carrier through the pipeline to the drainage tank. When settling on the walls of ballast compartments, the inhibitor penetrates through the corrosion products to the metal, displaces water from its surface and forms a protective water-repellent film. As shown by practice, this method dramatically reduces the labor input and reliably protects the metal surfaces from corrosion. Implementation of the upgraded design and the developed technology of the corrosion protection of ballast compartments allows providing for the corrosion protection of ballast compartments without withdrawing the ship from operation.
