Appropriate techniques and experimental equipment for CM tests was developed. The thermal expansion coefficients, characteristics of strength and deformability of CM are determined. The analysis and limitations for generalized phenomenological criterion of macrofracture CM for engineering applications has been made. A numerical simulation of monolayer of carbon fiber and a polymer base did not reveal a reliable formula for calculating Young's modulus in directions perpendicular to the main direction when the Young's modulus of individual components of the monolayer, measured in the main direction and weight fractions of these components was given. Therefore, to reduce the "unavoidable" error in the monolayer Young's modulus calculations, it is advisable to use a full-scale experiment.
