G. Yanovsky popup.description2 Object - the blood of white rats with experimental pulmonary emphysema (PE). Aim - to find out the nature of violations of the state of glutathione-dependent detoxification system and oxidant-antioxidant system of the blood and to justify the possibility of their drug correction in experimental PE. Methods - experimental, biochemical, histological, statistics. New data on metabolic disorders in experimental PE are obtained: activation of lipid peroxidation (LPO) processes, inactivation of the glutathione redox system, shift in pro/antioxidant balance, development of endogenous intoxication. A technology has been developed for determining criteria for assessing the functional state of the glutathione-dependent system (GDS) for blood detoxification with papain PE by the level of activity of the key glutathione-dependent enzymes in the erythrocyte hemolysate, which allows one to assess the degree of impairment in this system, to reveal one of the mechanisms of metabolic disturbances. A technology has been developed to restore the functional state of GDS by administering to animals with experimental PE of sodium succinate, which allows it to restore its homeostasis, increase the processes of detoxification and antioxidant protection by increasing the activity of glutathione-dependent enzymes to the level of healthy animals. A technology has been developed to correct disorders in the oxidative-antioxidant system of blood under experimental PE conditions by administering mexidol, which allows to reduce the concentration of malondialdehyde and increase the activity of the main glutathione-dependent enzymes, and therefore reduce the intensity of POL processes and increase the antioxidant protection. A new method has been developed for correcting the functional state of the antioxidant blood enzymes in experimental PE by administering sodium succinate to experimental animals, which makes it possible to increase the activity of glutathione-reductase by 47,0%, glutathione-peroxidase by 61,2% and catalase by 66,0% and reveal the mechanism of the direct influence of this compound on the functional state of antioxidant enzymes.
