The purpose of the research is to determine the possibility of using the electric discharge treatment (EDT) to destroy the shells and rods of the casting blocks provided by the Customer manufactured by investment casting. The essence of the EDT is the use of pressure pulses generated during high-voltage breakdown of a liquid. With the action of electric discharge pulses on the object being treated and causing tensile and compressive forces, destruction of the ceramic shells and rods in the castings is accomplished. To increase the completeness and quality of electric discharge cleaning, it is necessary to use additional mechanisms for weakening the rods and shapes. This, first of all, can be an electric discharge treatment in a solution of surfactants, which allows creating a synergetic effect in reducing the integral strength of ceramic shells and rods. The outputs of known papers are systematized and an analytical report is prepared with a technical description of the developed models of electric discharge units for removing rods from castings of various complexity and dimensions.
