The objective: Development of deposition processes of quality carbon nanostructured protective anti-friction coatings for rotating sealings of a new generation of pump and compressor pressure equipment for nuclear power plants.The report presents the results of experiments on the deposition of nanostructured diamond and diamond-like (DLC) coatings to silicon carbide S-FT, which is characterized by increased electrical conductivity. On the equipment that was modernized at the previous stage, the optimization of the processes of depositing protective antifriction carbon coatings on the witness samples from silicon carbide of this brand, which is used in the dry gas seals (DGS) with a diameter of 120 mm, was carried out. On the equipment for deposition of protective diamond coatings by the plasma-chemical method, the process of deposition coatings on the witness samples from silicon carbide has been optimized. Based on the results of testing the samples, the conditions under which the minimal non-uniformity of the radial distribution of the thickness of the diamond coating is achieved and the satisfactory rate of its growth is observed. The vacuum-arc evaporator of the carbon plasma has been modernized. By swirling the flow of argon, which is introduced into the evaporator to improve the stability of the vacuum arc discharge, the speed of the cathode spot motion along the surface of the graphite cathode is increased. Modernization made it possible to deposit on the rings of silicon carbide thin layers of DLC with different mechanical characteristics, and to produce coatings of various architectures with controlled properties. The mechanical characteristics (hardness and Young's modulus) of diamond-like coatings on samples of silicon carbide and stainless steel witnesses were measured by the nanoindentation method. The method of scratch testing evaluated the adhesion of diamond and diamond-like coatings deposited on silicon carbide. The deposition regimes of such coatings with better mechanical characteristics are determined. The prototypes of ring elements with diamond-like coatings were tested and found suitable for use in production.
