X-ray excited luminescence of Li2B4O7(Eu) polycrystals was studied. Luminescence at 330-430 nm is due to electron transitions between Eu2+ ion ground state and terms of mixed configuration while at 470-800 nm it is due to magnetic and electric dipolar electronic transitions between the Eu3+ ion ground state and excited levels. Compositional dependence of refractive index of glassy Li2B4O7 with Er3+, Tb3+ and Eu3+ activators is found.
