The purpose of the work is to study the essence of financial potential, to determine the conditions and factors of its formation, to generalize existing methods of its evaluation, to develop proposals for the construction and implementation of mechanisms for improving the financial potential management system and the formation of a strategy for managing financial potential at the enterprise. Methods of research - theoretical generalization, system and comparative analysis, statistical analysis, graphic, expert evaluations. The essence of the financial potential of the enterprise is investigated, the main elements are distinguished and the factors of influence on its formation are characterized; identified possible approaches, characterized the main directions and identified effective methods for evaluating the financial potential of the enterprise and its individual components. On the basis of the results of the assessment of the financial situation and the research of financial potential, the proposals for building a mechanism for improving the financial potential management system of the enterprise are formulated. Under the condition of implementation of this mechanism, an effective adaptation of the company to constant changes in its internal and external environment is possible on the basis of achieving a sufficient level of financial flexibility, which is justified by the fullest possible use of available financial resources and the achievement of financial development goals in the short and long term. The approach to financial strategy formation taking into account the priority of strategic measures on the main directions of activity of the enterprise with the purpose of increase of profitability and neutralization of financial risks is offered, and the mechanism of formation of the strategy of management of financial potential of the enterprise is constructed.
