The purpose is to develop the method for replacing titanium and lithium in the spinel lattice Li4Ti5O12 by transition metal ions to improve the electrophysical properties of the electrode material. Methods of research - thermogravimetric and X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscopy, porosimetry, cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic cycling and cycling in a combined mode. The Li4Ti5O12 precursors were synthesized by the citrate method in the presence of citric acid. The comparison shows that best pyrolized samples of citrate precursors obtained in argon compared with thouse obtained on air have twice the size of particles and much better electrochemical properties. In particular, lithium ion power sources based on the system Li || Li4Ti5O12, obtained by pyrolysis in argon, have specific capacity of 148 mAh/g at current load of 1.0 C, 70 mAh/g at a load of 30 C and 32 mAh/g at current load of 60 C. These values exceed the values obtained with the commercial material Li4Ti5O12. For Li4Ti5O12 obtained by pyrolysis on the air, with increase of the discharge current from 1.0 C to 30 C, the discharge capacity decreases from 125 to 40 mAh/g.
