The object of research - the impact of long-term operation of the NPP on the structure and mechanical properties of metal pipelines. The purpose of this work was to control the physical and mechanical properties of steels and to investigate the damages to pipelines after long-term operation of the NPP. Research methods - metolagrophy, internal friction, and raster electronic microscopy. The causes and mechanisms of damages to the metal of NPP pipelines are determined. It has been established that in the steel 20 there are processes of aging consisting in the formation of a perlite component on the boundaries of ferrite grains and the transformation of granular perlite into a plate. The processes of aging in steel 20 are also confirmed by the method of internal friction. The novelty of the results is: for the first time it was established that during the operation of the second circuit NPP with WWER-1000 there are processes of aging of ferrite-perlite steels. What is the structural transformation of the perlite phase. This leads together with the presence of non-metallic inclusions to the enhanced development of corrosion damages to metal pipelines. Research results can be used in nuclear and thermal energy.
