The results of the modernization of the equipment complex for cutting metal samples in conditions of high irradiation are presented. The diagnostics of the properties of 10ГН2МФА steel from the cold leg of the circulating primary pipe of the first power unit of South-Ukrainian NPP , which operated for 200 thousand hours, was performed. The microstructure, composition and size of emissions, microhardness, electric resistance, internal friction, hydrogen content are investigated. The signs of aging of steel, showing up reduction of the grains size, changes in the ratio between granular and plastic perlite, increase of grain boundaries of the number of extracts, and the expansion of the impurity peak of internal friction, are detected. Changes in the structural characteristics of steel, for the most part, occurred up to 100 thousand hours of operation, indicating the inhibition of the aging process after 200 thousand hours of operation. Despite the aging process, the mechanical properties fully meet the requirements of the normative documentation and have a high probability of their invariability till the next control (after 100 thousand hours of operation).
