The object of the research - oral historical sources that arose among the servicemen of the Armed Forces (further - the Armed Forces) of Ukraine, involved in the conduct of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (further - ATO) in the East of Ukraine in 2014-2017. Subject of research - oral history of servicemen of the AF of Ukraine on staying in the ATO area in 2014-2017. The purpose of research - a comprehensive study of oral history materials as a special kind of sources for coverage events in ATO, clarifying the content and nature of the fighting, methods and mechanisms for conducting military operations of the AF of Ukraine military forces necessary assistance from law enforcement agencies, government agencies and local self-government during ATO. The tasks of the research were: to present and analyze the complex of oral sources in the history of the ATO, which would contribute to a thorough study of the topic; -to classify oral sources according to their thematic arid chronological features, determination of their representativeness and authenticity; -to highlight the history of everyday life of the studied period on the basis of oral sources and to analyze other types of source base that would contribute to the comprehensiveness of scientific research; - analyze the information of oral memories, carry out verification of the source base, analyze, compare the sources presented for research; - to reconstruct the historical epoch, the events of the ATO on the basis of a large number of oral sources, official state documents, statistical materials; - to determine the specifics of materials of oral history in the coverage of ATO events; - to determine the theoretical and methodological principles of the use of materials of oral history of ATO in the educational process of cadets of higher educational establishments. The methodological basis of SRW is a variety of scientific methods that were used simultaneously to ensure the reliability of knowledge, the solution of the tasks and substantiation of the conclusions and recommendations made. The dialectical method is used to study theoretical / practical aspects during the military aggression of the Russian Federation; method of socio-historical research, method of conducting interviews with ATO participants; statistical method; method of documentary analysis; sociological - in the analysis of sociological materials; comparative and modeling - for the development of suggestions and recommendations on the use of memoirs of ATO participants in the educational process of the Academy. These and other methods of scientific knowledge were used in the interconnection, which contributed to a comprehensive analysis, the substantiation of theoretical conclusions and practical recommendations.
