The purpose of the research is to determine the impact of surprise factors on the effectiveness of tasks execution and to develop the recommendations for conditions to achieve surprise actions by the units of the National Guard of Ukraine in a special operation to neutralize the illegal armed groups in the area of armed conflict. Methods of research - system analysis, system-structural, expert-analytical, mathematical modeling. The report reveals the essence and content of surprise in the armed struggle, defines and ranks the factors of achievement of the suddenness of the actions, determines the indicators and criteria for assessing the effectiveness of the elimination of illegal armed formations. Scientifically-methodical apparatuses for justifying the influence of suddenness on the outcome of combat operations and the algorithm of the commander (chief) on determining the conditions for achieving surprise in a special operation on the neutralization of illegal armed formation, taking into account the influence of the factors of surprise, have been developed.
