The object of the research is the rock piles of JSC "Lviv Coal Company". The subject of the study is the dynamics of temperature changes in the rock dump at a depth of up to 2.5 m. The aim of the work is a step-by-step temperature survey of the Lviv Coal Company rock bottom at a depth of up to 2.5 m. With the determination of the spatial and temporal variability of the temperature field, as a scientific basis for monitoring the thermal state of the dump and assessing the effectiveness of immediate emergency measures to prevent an emergency. Control of the thermal state of rock waste dumps is carried out for: a) the timely detection of hot spots on the existing dumps and taking measures to prevent spontaneous combustion of rocks; b) evaluation of the effectiveness of measures to reduce the intensity of burning rock waste; c) obtaining initial data for the development of projects for extinguishing or disassembling rock dumps. The expected result is a graphic representation of maps of self-heating hot spots and sections of the temperature field of the rock pile of JSC "Lviv Coal Company" with explication (text part). The paper describes and presents the results of experimental studies of temperatures in the rocks of the slag of OJSC "Lviv Coal Company". The presented results give an opportunity to assess the dynamics of temperatures and migration of hidden and visible foci of combustion.
