Subject: The biological and ecological characteristics of growing Ginkgo Biloba and the prospects of collecting leaves and extracting raw material for pharmaceutical purposes. Goal and objectives of the Project: To study the biological and ecological characteristics of growing Ginkgo Biloba as the organic raw material, and to examine the methods of extracting the leaves of the studied species. The objectives: determine the optimal pattern for creating the plantations of the studied species in the conditions of North-Eastern Forest-Steppe of Ukraine for organic production; identify the optimal timing of harvesting, storage conditions and drying of the leaves of Ginkgo Biloba; examine the promising methods of extracting the studied raw material. As a resul of the the study conducted, we have obtained the developments on the methods of growing and making the plantation of Ginkgo Biloba in the generative and vegetative ways. During the spring and autumn of 2017, the project executives and the staff of the laboratory of modern technologies of ornamental plant cultivation of Sumy NAU, laid out the plantation of the studied species with the area of about 1.2 ha for the cultivation of the organic raw materials for pharmaceutical purposes. In this case, more than five thousand three-year seedlings of the invasive plant grown by our own efforts, the price of which is around UAH 15,0000, have been used. The obtained results show that the relict species in the region under study in terms of the prospects of introduction can be promising, and hold much promise. At the same time, the success rate of acclimatization of the species is satisfactory. Therefore, the region under study is favorable for the plantation cultivation of the invasive plant with the aim of harvesting the leaves for pharmaceutical purposes. The 3-4-year-old seedlings grown in the open field and 2-3-year-old seedlings grown in the greenhouses with a height of about 80 cm were used when growing Ginkgo Biloba as the organic raw material for pharmaceutical purposes by establishing plantations in the conditions of North-Eastern Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. In this case, it is expedient to conduct the first collection of green leaves one or two years after the plantation establishment, and fallen leaves - in the year of the plantation establishment. During the process of the preparation of the raw material for study, it was dried while being brought to the air-dried condition (the conditions of drying), crushed, mixed in the appropriate proportions, and prepared the extracts, changing the main parameters, and then determined the content of major groups of active substances. The main factors studied to determine the impact on the speed and completeness of extraction are as follows: dispersive capacity of plant raw material, nature of the extractant, duration of extraction, ratio of raw material: extractant, extraction frequency. The study of the influence of the raw material crushing degree on the completeness of extraction of active substances was conducted on the dried plant raw material, crushed in a mill and sieved through a sieve with the hole size of 7.0; 5.0; 3.0; 2.0; 1.0; 0.5; 0.1 mm. 1.0 g (precisely weighed amount) of the raw material was taken from each fraction and placed in a flask of 250 ml, then 50 ml of hot purified water was added, and the obtained mixture was heated in the boiling water heater under reflux for 30 min with intermittent mixing. On the basis of the study conducted we can conclude on the optimal degree of the raw material crushing, the best extractants, extraction completeness, the magnitude of the output of the phenolic compounds over time and the ratio of extractant/time.
