Object of research: the synthesized samples of sorbents-photo-catalysts on the basis of nanosized metal oxides. The aim of the project is to develop scientific and technological bases for obtaining high-level metal oxide nanosystems, including photo-catalytic, for the environmentally safe destruction of organic compounds contained in the streams of different genesis. Tasks for solving the project: - critical analysis of methods of synthesis of metal oxide sorbents-photocatalysts and ways of increasing their photocatalytic activity; - creation of effective nano-dispersed metal oxide sorbents-photo catalysts and establishing a connection between the parameters of their synthesis and physico-chemical and sorption (photo) catalytic properties; - testing of prototype samples of the most effective sorbents-photocatalysts in conditions close to the industry. The conducting a critical review on the feasibility of using adsorbents and photocatalysts for the removal of organic compounds from aqueous media has allowed to substantiate the choice of metal oxide systems based on oxides of titanium, stannum and ferrum and approaches to their synthesis, as well as ways to increase their adsorption-photocatalytic activity. Investigation of the influence of the conditions of the synthesis of catalytic systems on the basis of nanosized metal oxides on their physical and chemical properties made it possible to determine the basic parameters of their synthesis and the interconnection of the physical and chemical characteristics of the resulting metal oxide adsorption-catalytic systems on their adsorption-photocatalytic activity. Also, the choice of dopants was substantiated and the influence of the method of their administration was determined and it was shown that the physico-chemical and adsorption-photocatalytic properties of adsorbent-catalysts essentially depend on the type of dopant, their amount and the method of their introduction. It is shown that the huge number of factors influence the adsorption-photocatalytic properties (phase composition, specific surface area, porosity, pore size ratio, and the size of the molecule of the pollutant, etc.), and it is ambiguous. As a result of the received data technological parameters of synthesis of the newest metal-oxide systems on the basis of titanium and ferrum are offered. According to research results, the scientific and technological bases for obtaining high-level the photocatalytic and adsorption metal oxide nanosystems have been developed, which will allow developing a domestic technology for their synthesis. The obtaining of such novel effective catalysts-adsorbents on the basis of nanosized metal oxides allows us to create an effective technology of water purification from organic compounds of different genesis contained in the effluents, which is technologically, economically feasible and environmentally friendly.
