Their differential expression in different types of nerve cells provides interneuronal interaction and regulates various subneuronal processes: a certain nature of electrical activity, the form of action potentials, the release of a neurotransmitter, synaptic integration, calcium-dependent regulation of enzymes and transcription factors.
