It was found that compounds with anions of carboxylic acids containing salicyidenimine fragments possesst ligand-centered emission in the yellow-green region of the spectrum, while in the luminescence spectra of Eu3 + compounds, narrow bands of characteristic Eu3 + emission are also observed. It has been shown that irradiation with UV-light of the samples of these compounds led to decreasing of the ligand-centered emission, but the maximum of the luminescence band only showed a small (10 nm) bathochromic shift. It was also found that these changes were reversible, but the reverse process was significantly slower. It has been found that the intensity of the metal-centered emission in the TpPyEu (L) 2 (H2O) complexes (L = monoanion of Schiff base obtained from salicylic aldehyde and 3- or 4-aminobenzoic acid) was not changed when the samples of these compounds were irradiated with UV light for 2 hours. It has been found that the mentioned above Eu3 + and Tb3 + complexes with anion of 3,5-di (tert-butyl) -4-hydroxybenzoic acid exhibit intensive metal centred emission with quantum yields of 21 and 50%, respectively. It has been shown that during UV irradiation, the emission intensity of these compounds significantly (up to 70% over 30 minutes) decreases over time, probably due to the generation of a phenoxyl radical from a 3,5-diterbutyl-4-hydroxybenzoate, which leads to luminescence quenching. It was found that there were no appreciable recovery of the metal-centered emission intensity in the dark during 2 days.
