The aim of the study to screen for the transmission of influenza A virus among domestic animals (dogs and cats) and to assess the risks of transmission of the pathogen. Research methods: serological (ELISA) and molecular genetic (qPCR), statistical and epidemiological analysis. A systematic review of influenza A viruses has been conducted among domestic dogs and cats in the world. During 2018, 634 serum samples from domestic mammals (dogs, cats) were examined for the detection of antibodies to influenza A viruses. At the same time, in the presence of clinical signs of respiratory disease and by agreement of the owners of animals, 156 samples of biological material (nose swabs) were taken for the study of the presence of influenza A virus RNA using qRT-PCR. For the first time, the results of the serological monitoring of influenza A viruses among domestic carnivores living in Kyiv are presented. In the course of the research, standard operating procedures (SOPs) were developed to standardize the methodology and increase the reliability of the results.
