Younger patients with AMI have a greater tendency to develop of post-infarction dilatation of LV than older patients due to a higher mass of necrotic myocardium. Special features of myocardial damage in young reperfused AMI patients (significant extension but moderate depth) allow maintaining the global contractility of left ventricle at a satisfactory level even in patients with pathological remodeling due to preserved circular and radial strain. Young patients with AMI are less likely to have any complications during index hospitalization and 10 years of follow-up.
