Theoretical and methodological basis of the research is the conceptual provisions of the economic theory, the theory of the firm, the theory of finance, management, the theory of planning and conclusions of modern foreign and national economic scientists in the field of economic potential management of an enterprise. The research is based on the fundamental principles of a systematic approach that allows disclosing the content and components of economic potential of a trade enterprise, the relationship between its individual elements and role of economic potential management in ensuring efficient development of an enterprise in the long-term period. General scientific and special methods of scientific knowledge are applied in order to achieve the research goal. Historical-logical method, comparative analysis, synthesis, scientific abstraction, induction and deduction are used in the investigation of theoretical and methodological principles of economic potential management, its separate structural elements and formation of a system of measures for the growth of economic potential.
