However, further increase of the active material mass may result in saturation effect and decrease of specific capacity. These two effects determine maximal value of the electrode thickness of 100 mcm. In the project it was shown that the same behavior of the surface specific capacity for electrode based on coarse-grained activated carbon materials (AC) takes also place. The materials are widely used in commercially produced SCs. It has been established that the SCs based on electrodes thicker than 200 mcm will possess 50% higher surface specific capacity compared to SCs based on 100 mcm electrodes. The obtained results confirm possibility to improve specific characteristics of porous carbon materials without changes of technology of the SC production and their cost. The approaches developed during the project fulfillment will be useful during development of technology for production of devices based on bipolar technology. The methodology and approaches for investigations of high-power devices were also developed with using new modern equipment and relevant results analysis.
