Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology popup.description2 For the first time, the method of creating virtual personalized 3D model of local bone lesion in patients with bone tumors was developed to improve the conditions for surgical intervention and to individualize the surgical approach. When using the created individual 3D models, a more detailed planning of the surgical intervention is carried out, which allows to reduce blood loss during the operation and shorten its duration; wherein the plastic of bone defects after tumor removal is carried out in a volume adequate resection and, thereby, contributes to effective restoration of the function of the operated limb. Based on the obtained data the algorithm for creating personalized 3D models has been developed, which includes clinical studies, use of X-ray computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), the formation of CT images, converting DICOM-files into STL-model for further printing on 3D printer.
