Subject of research - patients with aroundsellar localization. Aim of work: to study the effectiveness of modern surgical approaches to aroundsellar localized meningiomas and to determine the most optimal and to improve existed ones, with the use of evidence-based medicine principles. Methods of research: neurological methods of examination, neuro-ophthalmic methods of examination, computed tomography, magnetic resonance tomography, statistical methods of information processing. Results of research. The results of surgical treatment of visual functions were statistically better in subgroup of patients, who were done bony decompression of optic nerve. The choise of an approach to the tumor spreading to the optic canal in both subgroups was conditioned more by topographo-anatomical peculiarities and sizes of meningioma, than by necessity of optic nerve bony decompression. Novelty of research. The scientific imagination is expanded, concerning complex evaluation of neurological, neuro-ophthalmic data with instrumental examination in patients with aroundsellar localized meningiomas. Optimized and engrained the methodology of the use of different surgical methods in patients with aroundsellar meningiomas localization. Practical value of research. As a result of carried out research the algorithm of preoperative examination of patients with aroundsellar meningiomas was improved. New methods conducting the tactics of differentiated surgical treatment in patients with aroundsellar meningiomas were optimized and engrained.
