Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology popup.description2 A complex of radiobiological methods for the determination of individual radiosensitivity (IR) of persons working in the field of ionizing radiation has been developed and proposed. It consists of chromosomal tests that reflect radiation-induced instability of the blood cell genome (G0- and G2-assays) and biochemical tests for determination of the pro-antioxidant ratio in blood (chemiluminescent assay) and the content of sulfhydryl groups of proteins and peptides (SH-assay). For the first time, potentiation of the effects of low dose radiation by drugs with co-mutagenic properties, depending on their concentration and IR of chromosomes in lymphocytes of professionals has been revealed. It was first discovered that inosin is capable of protecting the cell genome of professionals (radiologists, radiologists) from the effects of ionizing radiation in the low dose range. A fundamentally new strategy for primary individual prevention of radiation-associated cancer has been developed, which consists of the following steps: the determination of the individual sensitivity of the professionals, the limitation of the effect of co-mutagens and the use of radioprotectors in professionals from the group of elevated carcinogenic risk. The "Passport of individual sensitivity of a person by cytogenetic indicators" has been developed and recommended for the practical implementation for the formation of groups of elevated carcinogenic risk among persons who are professionally exposed to ionizing radiation, and the use of means of primary individual prevention of radiation-associated cancer.
