The purpose of the work is to improve the methods of evaluation of the source material and to create highly productive, patentable varieties of millet with complex resistance to the caprine and melanosis, high technological qualities of grain, adapted to the conditions of Ukraine. Selection of breeding material and its evaluation on the adaptability of individual characteristics (coarse grains, filamentary, grain form). Estimation of stability of breeding material against rabies on an artificial infectious background with reproduction in the genetic purity of spore material of the pathogen. Study of the level of the total economic value of new lines in the control test. Research methods: Fields for the creation, evaluation and selection of breeding material obtained by genetic recombination of useful genes dispersed in various intraspecific sources of millet using artificial crosses; laboratory for determining the technological qualities of millet grain; statistical analysis of the research results. Results of the study: In the hybrid and breeding nurseries, a selection of selection material was carried out and its evaluation on the adaptability of individual characteristics (coarse grains, fillet, grain form). In 2018, on the area of ??6.5 hectares, 18.7 tons of seeds of the second-year breeding nursery of the Omriyan variety and seedlings of reproduction of the 1st year of varieties of Cavernous (0.5 tons) and Rainbow (0.6 tons) were grown.
