Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology popup.description2 The variant of the method of photodynamic therapy of melanoma B16 mice with the use of a methylene blue sensitizer and chitosan immuno-adjuvant was developed. The method consists of intra-tumor administration of MB with chitosan, irradiation of tumors by red light of a semiconductor laser (wavelength 658 nm), and additional subcutaneous administration of chitosan. The optimal melanoma exposure parameters were a dose of 300 J / cm2 at a power density of 250 mW / cm2, which resulted in an average survival of 66% of the mice and a dose of 250 J / cm2 at a power density of 210 mW / cm2, yielding a survival of 40% irradiated animals. Taking into account the features of laser irradiation of tumors (using a laser device with adequate output power, protection of the abdominal cavity from irradiation), it is possible to achieve the complete destruction of tumors and the survival of all B16 melanoma mice treated by the developed PDT.
