The structure and morphology of CdTe nanoparticles were investigated by transmission electron microscopy. Тoxicity of chemically synthesized CdTe quantum dots on human T-and B-lymphocytes, endothelial cells, coloncancer cells (Colo 205) and human mammary gland (MCF-7) has been evaluated.Screening of chemically synthesized CdTe quantum dots indicates toxicity of these nanoparticles in a range of concentrations that exceed limit concentrations of similar nanostructures. CdTe nanoparticles obtainedby a fungal mycelium have a lower toxic effect compared to chemically synthesized particles, which is probably due to the presence of an organic shell around the nucleus of such quantum dots.
