As a numerical example, we considered a cavity for a 0.4-THz gyrotron with an efficiency of 22% and a power of 97 kW. The corrugations in the cavity were applied to the input section and part of the central section. The depth of the corrugations was chosen so that they had a minimal effect on the chosen working mode of the gyrotron. It is shown that, in contrast to the working mode, the fundamental competing modes experience a significant reflection from the selected inhomogeneity of the corrugations distribution. It has been established that the starting currents of such modes, herewith, increase significantly. It is determined that this increase may be more than 1000%, depending on the corrugations distribution.
