Millet is one of the major cereal crops in Ukraine, which is widely used in almost all industries: agricultural production, industry, medicine. In bakery and confectionery, flour is added as a mixture to other cereals. In brewing raw millet can be used for malt. From the by-product of processing, oil is obtained for technical purposes, as well as biologically active substances for the microbiological industry. Due to high protein content, vitamins and flavors it is one of the best feed crops. Used grain, products of its processing, as well as green mass, straw, floor and hay Millet is a high-yielding and profitable culture. However, in recent years, the potential of crop yields is not fully used in connection with the damage to crops by pathogens. The complex of mushroom diseases accompanying the millet throughout the entire period of vegetation has a negative impact on the growth and development of plants and leads to the reduction of crops. The aim of the study was to determine the distribution, specification of the species composition of millet diseases, biological peculiarities of their development in Polissya and the forest-steppe of Ukraine, and to improve the elements of the protection system to limit their development and obtain high grain yields. During the course of the work, general scientific and special research methods were used. Due to the increased interest in millet in Ukraine, the movement of its growing areas in the Forest-steppe and Polissya, there is a spread of various diseases that reduce the yield and quality of seeds and lead to significant economic losses. Therefore, the substantiation of protective measures to reduce the development of pathogens and maintain a high viability of plants throughout the entire period of vegetation to improve the yield and quality of millet grain is relevant. The developed protection measures were tested in agricultural enterprises: Vega, SFG Rodina, POZP "Zorya", FG "Shegeda" and of economic importance. The results of the research can be used by the plant protection service and the producers to plan the millet crop protection system in Polissya Ukraine.
