Bogatsky, Physico-Chemical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 Object of investigation - hydrolytic enzyme lysozyme; possesses antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, immunostimulating and other activities. Aim of the investigation - creation of complex antibacterial preparations for tear substitutive therapy. The influence of physico-chemical properties and the structure of polymers (chitosan, cellulose derivatives, dextran, etc.) on the characteristics of eye drops with lysozyme was investigated. The biochemical and physico-chemical properties of the enzyme in the preparation (protein content, bacteriolytic activity, pH and thermal profiles of activity, storage stability) and the main indicators to which the eye drops preparation (viscosity, osmolality, refractive index) should correspond. The method of sterilizing filtration and benzalkonium chloride as a preservative was chosen to ensure the long-term storage of the developed preparation. The antimicrobial action of eye drops with lysozyme and polysaccharides has been proven using test microorganism strains. Experimental studies of the biomedical properties of the drug on models of ophthalmic diseases of the cornea of rabbits' eyes showed the absence of allergenic action and the ophthalmological safety of the drug.
