The purpose of the work is to analyse the cumulative effects of Arg analogues and Arg deprivation on the functioning of key signaling pathways that regulate the growth, survival and viability of human tumor cells. It has been established that the combination of deprivation of Arg and its analogues canavanine, thioarginine and indospicine in non-toxic under normal condition concentrations causes a rapid loss of proliferative potential and death of HCT-116 human colon cancer cells and SKOV3 human ovarian carcinoma cells, mainly due to caspase-dependent apoptosis. It is shown that the effect of the combination of analogues of Arg on the background of Arg fasting is mediated by such key signaling mechanisms as PI3K-Akt-mTOR and MAPK-ERK.
