According to the data obtained, deformation loading history, the residual technological tension and the consideration of extensive surface damage of corrosion origin substantially affect the resistance to the destruction of the welding unit. It is shown that the traditional linear-elastic calculation of the resistance to the destruction of the welding unit does not provide sufficient degree of conservatism, which leads to an overestimate of its strength. The developed procedure of SSS calculation and resistance to the destruction of welding units was used to substantiate the life-time prolongation for 20 years of PGV-1000M steam generators of power unit number 3 of Rivne NPP.
