The long-term change in the tropospheric and lower-stratospheric circulation of the Southern Hemisphere has been analyzed, with particular attention to the period of development of the ozone anomaly during the polar spring. Dependence of the weather and climate variability of the Antarctic peninsula on the El Ni?o-Southern Oscillation is noted. The relation of the circumpolar vortex with the position of the ozone anomaly during the period of the polar spring is shown. A classification of the total ozone content over Vernadsky station during 1972-2017 was obtained.
