It has been found that phytoepiphyton is rather sensitive to changes in the content of inorganic and organic compounds in the water, which manifests itself in changes in its species composition, taxonomic structure, numbers and biomass, complex of dominant species, and ecological spectrum. It has been shown that Chlorophyta and Euglenophyta are capable of ammonium detoxification. Algae of these divisions are of considerable importance in the processes of water self-purification from high concentrations of inorganic compounds of nitrogen. It has been found that high current velocity, water level fluctuations, and wind driven wave result in the decrease of phytoepiphyton species richness, to changes in its species composition, taxonomic structure, complex of dominant species, dimensional structure, and in the structure of its numbers and biomass, and also in the decrease in the quantitative indices of its development.
