The following results were obtained: six microsatellite (MS) loci were identified; detected 12 alleles - from 1 to 3 per locus; based on the results an electronic database of amplification products of 8 onion varieties by the size of amplification fragments of microsatellite loci was developed; for graphical visualization of the differences between the analyzed varieties, the dendrogram, in which two clusters were allocated, was constructed, the associations between the varieties coincided with the stages of onion varieties breeding in the IVMG NAAS from 1967 to 2006, the formed main clusters include stages of breeding process under the guidance of specific breeders; the used marker panel is suitable for differentiation, but needs to be expanded by additional markers for a more detailed analysis of the genotypes used in breeding programs to create onion hybrids.
