The processes of generation of these waves and their interaction with banks, bottom irregularities and hydraulic structures are considered. Methods of research are the theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and physical experiment. The conditions at which a soliton wave is generated during the passage of a ship in the channel were obtained as well as mirror and linear reflection of the divergent waves from the channel walls was considered. The efficiency of riprap for protection of coastal hydraulic structures from erosion by progressive waves was analyzed.
