START HEATING, THERMOELECTRIC GENERATOR, PHYSICAL MODELS, COMPUTER DESIGN, EFFICIENCY. The object of investigation are thermoelectric converters of thermal into electric energy for preheating of vehicle engines. The purpose of the work is to develop an experimental sample of a thermoelectric pre-heater and to confirm its efficiency by conducting integrated research of its characteristics. Methods of investigation - physico-chemical methods of calculation of the basic parameters of fuel combustion processes; physical simulation of thermoelectric generators; methods of computer simulation of thermal and mass-exchange processes of fuel chemical energy conversion into thermal energy; methods of computer simulation and design of thermoelectric modules and generators; experimental methods of research on the energy characteristics of thermal generators. The scientific novelty of the research is to create a fundamentally new design of a heat source for heating vehicle engines, using which helps to achieve the increase in engine life, reduction of toxic substances, fuel saving and increased driving safety, and solve the problem of battery discharge during the operation of preheaters. On the basis of the results of the project, an experimental sample of a thermoelectric preheater heater on diesel fuel with thermal power (2.5-3) kW and electric power (80-100) W for preliminary heat training of the vehicle engines for operation was created. In the course of research it was confirmed that the use of a thermoelectric generator in the design of starting pre-heaters solves the problem of battery discharge during the operation of pre-start equipment. In so doing, the excess electricity of the thermogenerator allows you to recharge the car battery. The implementation of the project results will contribute to the development of the automotive and machine-building industry, with the production of autonomous pre-heater for various types of vehicles: trucks, passenger cars; air and water transport. The project results make a significant contribution to solving the global problem of environmental pollution. Studies show that the amount of toxic emissions of one vehicle per season, when used without preliminary heat training, is about 70 kg, which leads to the spread of a variety of allergic and asthmatic diseases and, as a consequence, to shortened life expectancy. The use of pre-heater with thermoelectric power sources can reduce the content of harmful gases in the exhaust ~ 5 times and reduce the annual emissions of one vehicle by 80%. In addition, it is important to increase the safety of the trip. According to statistics, 15% of all accidents occur in the first 15 minutes, when, due to the influence of cold, the actions of a frozen person are slow and inhibited, and attention is weakened. Under the comfortable conditions provided by the preheating of the engine and the passenger compartment, such negative signs are completely excluded. The results of the project will contribute to the development of the country's economy, since fuel economy when using only one thermoelectric pre-heater is 100-150 liters in the winter season. Potential customers for the products are enterprises of the automotive and machine-building industries, including enterprises engaged in the manufacture and installation of pre-start equipment.
