The object of this study is the steppe groups of the Ukrainian Steppe Nature Reserve of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Basic methods are: stationary and semi-stationary monitoring of key sites, profiles, permanent and control sites, which are located on a part of the protected area, standard geobotanical descriptions, computer synphytoindication, geobotanical monitoring of key sites, route monitoring of the protected area. The aim of the work is to study the mechanism of meadows conversion and reforestation of benchmark, relict steppes of the UNSR NAS of Ukraine for the preservation of their features and maximum biota diversity. Furthermore important point is stabilization at the level of the organization of phytosystem, for which this territory became the object of the reservation. According to the results of the monitoring of the vegetation of the reserve, it has been found that the basis of spatial changes of the last three decades in its plant cover has been the interconversion of soddomy and rhizomatous groups in the protected steppe. The regime of non-interference (absolute reserve) contributed to the spread of shrub vegetation due to its active expansion. The prospect of this is a relatively rapid achievement of the natural level of lignaculture quota under presenting conditions. Former woodlands of Cretaceous forests on steppe areas form a full-fledged forest tree stands. It gives grounds to predict in the coming decades the transformation of the territory of the "Kreydyana flora" reservation in the forest, with minor remnants of the steppe areas of the Cretaceous vegetation. Evidentaly, it means the completion of the demutation process of the stage of self-development of the vegetation and the onset of more stable stages with the wood-shrub confinement characteristic to them. The results of research will use as the basis for developing a system of up-to-date management measures in steppe protected ecosystems at this stage of their self-development. Biota, demutation, wood-shrub vegetation, cretaceous forests, monitoring, steppe, natural reserve, vegetation cover.
